Saint Ludmila, Patron of Bohemia, Prague (Feast Date: 16 September)

Extract from Saint Ludmila: “(Death: September 15, 921 at Saint George’s Church, Prague). Daughter of a Slavic prince. Duchess of Bohemia, married to Boriwoi, first Christian Duke of Bohemia; the two were baptized by Saint Methodius in 871. They built the first Christian church in Bohemia, and tried to force Christianity on their subjects; they failed. Widow. Grandmother and tutor of Saint Wenceslas. Gave a proper burial to Saint Ivan. Her daughter-in-law, Drahomira, jealous of the influence which Ludmilla wielded over her grandson, Wenceslaus, had her murdered.”

We, at the CTF/SOS DRS have prayed for the intercession of St. Ludmila on behalf of those affected by the following catastrophes:

Earthquake in Bohemia (October 11, 2008) (Europe) See World Mission Rosary Intentions: November 24 – December 7, 2008.

That the Lord in His Divine Mercy – through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary – may build up His Kingdom, make these mysteries a reality in our lives, strengthen us in our common mission, and come to the aid of those for whom we pray.
