[Italiano] Oggi comincia l’Avvento.

[English] We have begun Advent. The Lord is coming. In fact, He is already here! And for that we are thankful.

In the United States we just celebrated Thanksgving. At mass we celebrate the Eucharist – a word which comes from the Greek word meaning “to give thanks”. Yes, we have many reasons to be thankful.

I am grateful for the fact that I just celebrated 6 years as a priest: I was ordained on November 29th, 2003 at St. Mary’s on the Hill in Augusta, Georiga. And I presided for the first time on the first Sunday of Advent. Please keep me in your prayers.

The mission of CTF-SOS DRS continues thanks to the work of many and the help of our benefactors.

Here is some fresh news about the medical, pastoral and humanitarian response to Typhoon Ketsana in Vietnam [ Ketsana 1, Ketsana 2]. CTF Philippines continues to respond in Marikina [ Ketsana 5] and there emergency project was just approved by the Italian Episcopal Conference thanks to CTF Philippines collaborating with CTF Central and the Camillian NGO Salute e Sviluppo [ Ketsana 6].

CTF Thailand just finished its 7th mission to Myanmar. It is still responding to Cyclone Nargis that devastated this country in May of 2008. CTF Thailand is offering medical and humanitarian support to the people affected by this terrible tragedy whose effects are still being felt. [ Cyclone Nargis 9]

Theresia Sinaga of CTF-SOS DRS Kenya writes about her pastoral experiences in Kibera Slum (Nairobi). The collaboration with the Kenyan Delgation and the Camillian Sisters in Nairobi continues [ Personal Reflections – Theresia]

The Camillians are about to sign an agreement with Caritas Italiana for the Saint Camillus Project, i.e. the collaborative response of CTF Central, SOS DRS , Caritas, Bambin Gesu Hospital and Italian Medical Research among others to the earthquake of April 6 in Abruzzo, Italy. CTF Central is promoting activities related to formation, volunteering (counseling) and the Rainbow Study [the part of the Saint Camillus Project that aims to study the pre and post intervention prevalence of PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) in 7,500 children].

Tomorrow CTF-SOS DRS will begin a novena in honor of the Virgin Mary – the Immaculate Conception. See the prayers here and join us [ The Novena]. This devotion of CTF-SOS DRS to the Immaculate Conception has its roots in the history of the organization, that of Fr. Scott Binet and the history of the Ministers of the Infirm Coordinator’s Corner – The Immaculate Conception]

Join us daily as we pray the World Mission Rosary for those affected by man-made and natural disasters.

Forward-to-a-Friend
