General Rosary Intention: That the Lord in His Divine Mercy – through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary – may build up His Kingdom, make these mysteries a reality in our lives, strengthen us in our common mission, and come to the aid of those for whom we pray.

Africa (Green Beads)

Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of Saint Walburga, the Patron Saint against Famine, may come to the aid of those affected by acute malnutrition in Liberia and elsewhere. May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in Africa.

Disaster (Acute Malnutrition) Map of LiberiaExtract from LIBERIA: Acute malnutrition a “social problem.” “In the Liberian capital Monrovia, acute malnutrition is due not only to poverty and inadequate health and sanitation services, but also to factors such as high teenage pregnancy and the damage of the war to the social fabric, say nutritionists, who call the condition ‘a social problem’”  . . . (Liberia is one of many countries in which certain foods which contain nutrients essential to maintaining health are in short supply. Thus, despite the availability of other foods, people are starving for these missing nutrients.)

Saint Walburga (Patron Saint against Famine) Extract from Saint Walburga (Feast Date: May 1). Profile: Daughter of Saint Richard the King. Sister of Saint Willibald and Saint Winebald. Student of Saint Tatta at Wimborne monastery, Dorset, England, where she later became a nun. Beginning in 748, she evangelized and healed pagans in what is now Germany with Saint Lioba, Saint Boniface, and her brothers, a mission that was very successful. . . . Cures are ascribed to the oil that exudes from a rock on which her relics were placed, which together with her healing skills in life explains her patronage of plague, rabies, coughs, etc.

Oceania (Blue Beads)

Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of Our Lady Help of Christians, the Patron Saint of Australia, may come to the aid of those affected by the chemical spill in that country. May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in Oceania.

Disaster (Chemical Spill) Map of AustraliaExtract from  EMA Disaster Database:  Chemical spill: Melbourne, VIC “A chemical spill made 28 people sick and forced the evacuation of 400 others at a freight depot in Melbourne.  Toxic vapors were released when a package was dropped in a loading bay at Star Track Express in Annandale Road, Tullamarine, about 9.30am. . . .   Most of the injured, including an ambulance officer, suffered respiratory irritation, nausea, and vomiting and were taken to the Sunshine, Western, Northern, and Royal Melbourne Hospitals. Four hundred people were evacuated and about two dozen people were overcome by fumes.”

Saint Mary (Our Lady, Help of Christians – Patron Saint of Australia) Extract from Our Lady Help of Christians (Feast Day: May 24). Profile: A statue of Mary, Help of Christians, stands in the Chapel of the Sacred Heart, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney, Australia. It was donated in the 19th century. Europe (White Beads)

Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of  St. Florian,  the Patron Saint of Floods., may come to the aid of those affected by floods in Serbia. May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in Europe.

Disaster (Floods in Serbia) Map of SerbiaExtract from: Serbia: Floods Heavy rains in the south-west of Serbia caused floods in many villages and cities on November 6-7, forcing some 300 families to leave their houses and find temporary accommodation with neighbors or relatives. The floods also destroyed food reserves, agricultural soil, and household equipment of some 1,080 families.

Saint Florian (Patron Saint of Floods) Extract from Saint Florian (Feast Date: May 4). Profile. His legendary “Acts” state that he gave himself up at Lorch to the soldiers of Aquilinus, the governor, when they were rounding up the Christians, and after making a bold confession, he was twice scourged, half-flayed alive, set on fire, and finally thrown into the river Enns with a stone around his neck. . . . Many miracles of healing are attributed to his intercession and he is invoked as a powerful protector in danger from fire or water. See picture of Saint Florian

America (Red Beads)

Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of  Our Lady of Peace, the Patron Saint of El Salvador, may come to the aid of those affected by Hurricane Ida in that country. May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in America.

Disaster (Hurricane Ida) Map of El Salvador in America On November 9, 2009 Hurricane Ida (see video) devastated the Central American nation of El Salvador.  Extract from Belize donates relief supplies to Salvador:“According to the United Nations, 198 people have been reported dead and 5,759 others are in 64 shelters with as many as 75,000 people affected by Hurricane Ida.” The suffering created by Hurricane Ida continues, as many residents of El Salvador remain homeless and in need of basic necessities.
SaintMary(Our Lady of Peace) (Patron Saint of El Salvador) (Feast Date:  November 21) Extract from Our Lady of Peace: “Tradition has it that some time in 1682 some merchants found an abandoned box on the shore of Salvador’s “Mar del Sur.” They were unable to open the box. As it was tightly closed and sealed, they surmised that it contained something of value, and decided to take it to the City of San Miguel where they would find out how to open it. They tied the box on a donkey’s back and undertook the long and dangerous journey to the city where they arrived on November 21, meaning to inform the local authorities of their find. But when they went by the parish church, now a cathedral, the donkey lay down on the ground. They were then able to open the box and were surprised to find that it contained a lovely image of Our Lady holding the Child.”

Asia (Yellow Beads)

Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of Saint Christopher, the Patron Saint of Floods, may come to the aid of those affected by flooding in Saudi Arabia. May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in Asia.

Disaster (Flooding in Saudi Arabia) Map of Saudi Arabia in Asia Extract from Hajj pilgrims pray at desert mountain after heavy rains kill 77 in Saudi Arabia “ MOUNT ARAFAT, Saudi Arabia–Muslim pilgrims holding white umbrellas against the blazing sun clambered up a rocky desert hill for prayers Thursday during the annual hajj, a day after torrential rains that killed at least 77 people”. . . . Flooding from the unusually heavy downpours hit hardest in the Red Sea coastal city of Jiddah, about 40 miles (60 kilometers) away from the holy city of Mecca and its surrounding sacred sites. . . . Streets were swamped with water, some houses collapsed and mudslides took place. . . It did not immediately appear that any pilgrims were among the dead. Saint Christopher (Patron Saint of Floods) Extract from Saint Christopher . Profile – The legend says: A heathen king (in Canaan or Arabia), through the prayers of his wife to the Blessed Virgin, had a son, whom he called Offerus and dedicated to the gods Machmet and Apollo. Acquiring in time extraordinary size and strength, Offerus resolved to serve only the strongest and the bravest. He bound himself successively to a mighty king and to Satan, but he found both lacking in courage, at last he found a hermit who told him to offer his allegiance to Christ, instructed him in the Faith, and baptized him. Christopher, as he was now called, willingly accepted the task of carrying people, for God’s sake, across a raging stream. One day he was carrying a child who continually grew heavier, so that it seemed to him as if he had the whole world on his shoulders. The child, on inquiry, made himself known as the Creator and Redeemer of the world. To prove his statement the child ordered Christopher to fix his staff in the ground. The next morning it had grown into a palm-tree bearing fruit. The miracle converted many. See picture of Saint Christopher.
