General Rosary Intention: That the Lord in His Divine Mercy – through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary – may build up His Kingdom, make these mysteries a reality in our lives, strengthen us in our common mission, and come to the aid of those for whom we pray.

Africa (Green Beads)

Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of St. Mary, Our Lady of Solitude, the Patron Saint of Mariners, may come to the aid of those refugees fleeing continuing hardship in Libya and those assisting them. May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in Africa.

Disaster (Problems of Refugees Fleeing Hardship in Libya) Map of Libya. Extract from Africa  Hundreds missing after over crowded boat from Libya capsizes: “Somali migrant worker Ibrahim Abdi has cheated death twice trying to get from north Africa to Europe. He boarded a boat bound for Italy last month, only to see it sink April 26. The next week he climbed aboard another ship. That boat capsized in Tripoli’s harbor Friday. Abdi survived that wreck as well. But he is one of very few lucky ones. Hundreds — possibly thousands — of African migrants have drowned or disappeared at sea trying to flee Libya for Europe in overcrowded boats that are not seaworthy, reports from refugee agencies suggest.” See also: Closeto 600 may be dead on Libyan migrant ship, Migrant workers fleeing Libya risk lives on smuggling boats, UN: Survivors of migrant sea odyssey from Libya found in Tunisian refugee camp, More boats full of migrants reach Italy.VIDEOS: Libya migrants smuggling incidents draws concern, Libya humanitarian mission turns chaotic, 400 illegal migrants rescued after boat hit rocks, Libyan migrants flee wrecked boat outside Lampedusa.

Saint Mary, Our Lady of Solitude (Patron Saint of Mariners) (Feast Dates: Holy Saturday, December 18) Extract fromWho is Our Lady of Solitude?: “Devotion to Mary, under the title of Our Lady of Solitude, was instituted to honor the Blessed Virgin during her solitude on Holy Saturday, as she awaited with faith the Resurrection of her Beloved Son, the Savior of the world. In the 17th century, devotion to Our Lady of Solitude increased when an unattended, heavily-laden pack donkey staggered into Oaxaca, Mexico and died. No one knew where it had come from, who owned it, or what it carried.  When the people examined his pack, they found a beautiful statue of Our Lady of Solitude.  She wore a crown of diamonds with a huge drop pearl in the middle, and a black velvet robe. The people decided that as the donkey had died at that spot, they would build a church there to house the little statue. Since then devotion to Our Lady of Solitude has grown, especially in Latin America.” See PICTURE of Our Lady of Solitude. Oceania (Blue Beads)

Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of St. Mary Magdalene of Pazzi,  the Patron Saint against Sexual Temptations, may come to the aid of those affected by drug-related promiscuity in Australia.  May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in Oceania.

Disaster (Drug-related Promiscuity) Map of Australia Extract from A sobering crime wave for NSW: “JUST as police start winning their battle against booze-fuelled violence, they are now facing a drugs and prostitution scourge across the state. A crackdown on licensed venues reduced alcohol-related attacks by 17 per cent in the past two years. However there is a worrying new drugs threat, with major rises in possession and trafficking offences across Sydney. Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research director Dr Don Weatherburn, who released three separate reports yesterday, said drug use had become a real issue for police. He also released data showing sexual assaults had risen by 128 per cent since 1990. Dr Weatherburn said while violent incidents at pubs after midnight were decreasing by 2.4 assaults a month, drugs possession and trafficking were on the rise. . . . The 2010 Crime Statistics report revealed increases in the possession of cocaine (23.3 per cent), cannabis (36.9 per cent), amphetamines (54.5 per cent) and other drugs (42.3 per cent), And in dealing and trafficking of cannabis (33.4 per cent), amphetamines (63.2 per cent) and other drugs (50.6 per cent). It also showed a 56.3 per cent escalation in prostitution offences.”  See also: Mexican cartels infiltrate Australia, Business woman charged over heroinpolice, Taxpayers buy drug users 2m condoms, MP gives evidence of Alice child prostitution, Australias Largest Brothel to Open in Sydney, Prostitution in Australia.

Saint Mary Magdalene of Pazzi (Patron Saint against Sexual Temptation) (Feast Date: May 25) Extract from St. Mary Magdalene de Pazzi: “Mystical ecstasy is the elevation of the spirit to God in such a way that the person is aware of this union with God and both internal and external senses are detached from the sensible world. Mary Magdalene de Pazzi was so generously given this special gift of God that she is called the ‘ecstatic saint.’ She was born into a noble family in Florence in 1566. The normal course would have been for Catherine de Pazzi to have married wealth and enjoyed comfort, but she chose to follow her own path. . . . When 16, she entered the Carmelite convent in Florence because she could receive Communion daily there. . Catherine had taken the name Mary Magdalene and had been a novice for a year when she became critically ill. Death seemed near so her superiors let her make her profession of vows from a cot in the chapel in a private ceremony. Immediately after, she fell into an ecstasy that lasted about two hours. This was repeated after Communion on the following 40 mornings. These ecstasies were rich experiences of union with God and contained marvelous insights into divine truths. As a safeguard against deception and to preserve the revelations, her confessor asked Mary Magdalene to dictate her experiences to sister secretaries. . . . She read the thoughts of others and predicted future events. During her lifetime, she appeared to several persons in distant places and cured a number of sick people. It would be easy to dwell on the ecstasies and pretend that Mary Magdalene only had spiritual highs. This is far from true. . . .She had violent temptations and endured great physical suffering.”  See PICTURE of Saint Mary Magdalene of Pazzi. Europe (White Beads)

Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of St. John of Avila,  the Patron Saint of Spain, may come to the aid of those affected by the recent earthquake in Lorca, Spain.  May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in Europe.

Disaster (Earthquake) (May 11, 2011) Map of Spain Extract from Spain mourns earthquake victims: “The earthquake-stricken Spanish town of Lorca has held a funeral Mass for victims of Wednesday’s disaster. Nine people were killed when a magnitude-5.1 quake struck the town, just two hours after one measuring 4.4. Spanish PM Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and Crown Prince Felipe and his wife were among hundreds attending the Mass in a large hangar-like structure. Thousands of buildings in the historic town have been damaged or destroyed and many residents have left. Mayor Francisco Jodar said 80% of buildings in Lorca – a town of 93,000 – suffered some damage. Some have gone to stay with friends and family in other areas, because their homes are unsafe or they fear aftershocks. Troops and emergency workers have put up tents for thousands of homeless people still in Lorca.” See also: Quake worst to hit Spain in decades, Spain: Earthquake rocks Lorca, Murcia, killing 10, Spain earthquakes kill at least 10, Spain Earthquake PICTURES: Buildings Fall, Dozens Hurt. Saint John of Avila (Patron Saint of Spain) (Feast Date: May 10) Extract from St. John of Avila (EN): “The Apostle of Andalusia and the spiritual advisor of St. Teresa, St. Francis Borgia, St. John of the Cross, St. Peter of Alcantara, and others. He was born on January 6, 1499, at Almodovar del Campo, Spain. After studying law at the University of Salamanca, he left the university to be a hermit. He then went to Alcala, where he was ordained. John drew great crowds with his fiery denunciations of evil and his many sermons. A brief imprisonment by the Inquisition in Seville made him even more popular. His missionary efforts were centered on Andalusia, and his letters and other writings have become Spanish classics. John was canonized in 1970.” See PICTURE of Saint John of Avila.  See also: May 10 – Saint John of Avila: Patron Saint of Spain (Multilingual).

America (Red Beads)

IntentionThat the Lord Jesus through the intercession of  St. James the Greater, the Patron Saint of Guatemala, may come to the aid of those killed by decapitation during the Guatemala Massacre of May 15.  May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in America.

Disaster (Guatemala Massacre)(May 15, 2011) Map of Guatemala Extract from Guatemala Killings: Massacre In Caserio La Bomba: “GUATEMALA CITY — Assailants killed at least 29 people – decapitating most of the victims – on a ranch in a part of northern Guatemala plagued by drug cartels, national police said Sunday. The massacre took place early Sunday in the town of Caserio La Bomba in Peten province near the Mexico border, according to National Civil Police spokesman Donald Gonzalez. Among the 29 dead were two children and two women. It is one of the worst massacres since the end of Guatemala’s 36-year civil war in 1996. Gonzalez said police are investigating whether the attack is related to Saturday’s killing in Peten of Haroldo Leon, the brother of alleged Guatemalan drug boss Juan Jose ‘Juancho’ Leon. ‘Juancho’ Leon was killed in 2008 in an ambush that Guatemalan authorities blame on Mexico’s Zetas drug cartel, which has increasingly wrested control of the drug trade outside Mexico. . .” See also: Massacre leaves 27 dead in northern Guatemala, 27 people found dead at a Guatemalan farm, 27 killed in Guatemala massacre, Guatemalan president declares state of emergency in Peten, Guatemala declares emergency over drug massacre.VIDEOS: 27 people decapitated on Guatemala farm, Guatemala Massacre comes with Chilling Message

Saint James the Greater (Patron Saint of Guatemala) (Feast Date: July 25) Extract from SAINTJAMEStheGREATER, Apostle, PatronofSpain (†44):  “Faith, burning, impetuous and outspoken, the straightforwardness of the true Israelite, were visible in him; but these qualities needed purifying before the ‘Son of Thunder’ could proclaim the Gospel of peace. It was James who suggested fire from heaven to consume the inhospitable Samaritans, and who sought a place of honor beside Christ in His kingdom. . . . He went to Spain after the death of Our Lord, and remained there for nine years, according to tradition. The famous Basilica of Saint James of Compostello, one of the most frequented pilgrimage sites of Europe, the site also of countless miracles, commemorates the memory of the nation’s beloved Apostle. In the year 44 Saint James, who was at that time in Jerusalem, was brought before King Herod Agrippa. The Apostle had been preaching fearlessly there, curing the sick and the blind, and delivering possessed persons. Two magicians were sent by the authorities to stop his doings by their charms, but both were converted. . . . The Apostle won the three crowns of heroism: he is a Doctor par excellence of the Faith, he was the first Apostle to be martyred, and according to Saint Epiphanus and other historians, he always conserved his virginity.  A Spanish author by the name of Tamayo reports fifteen different apparitions of Saint James to the kings and princes of Spain, followed each time by some specific assistance for the benefit of the land.”  See PICTURES of Saint James the Greater.  See also: Saint James the Greater, Patron Saint of Guatemala, Nicaragua, Medjugorje, BosniaHerzegovina(Multilingual), PRAYER TO SAINT JAMES, THE APOSTLE.

Asia (Yellow Beads)

Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of  St. Faith,  the Patron Saint of Soldiers, may come to the aid of those affected by retaliatory suicide bombings in Pakistan.  May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in Asia.

Disaster (Retaliatory Suicide Bombings) (May 13, 2011) Map of Pakistan. Extract from RETALIATION FOR OSAMA: Pakistan Suicide Bombers Kill 80: ‘The suicide bombing that killed 80 in Pakistan today came in two waves. The first attack came as Frontier Constabulary cadets finished their training and were boarding a bus to take them home for the weekend. A suicide bomber, on motorcycle, rode up to the bus and detonated his vest. Wounded paramilitary officer Ahmad Ali told the BBC: I was sitting in a van waiting for my colleagues. We were in plain clothes and we were happy we were going to see our families I heard someone shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ [God is great] and then I heard a huge blast. I was hit by something in my back shoulder. As other Constabulary officers rushed to help their wounded colleagues a second bomber rode in and detonated his vest. 66 of the 80 dead are officers. At least 120 more people were injured. The closest hospital in Peshawar has been flooded with wounded as doctors race to save the lives of 40 additional critically injured cadets. It’s the first revenge for the martyrdom of… Bin Laden. There will be more,’ Taliban spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan told the Reuters news agency by telephone from an undisclosed location. Saint Faith (Patron Saint of Soldiers) (Feast Date: October 6) Extract from  St. Faith: “Her unreliable legend is that she was hailed before Dacian, procurator at Agen, France, for her Christianity during Diocletian’s persecution of the Christians. She was then tortured to death for her Christianity on a red-hot brazier. Also executed with her was St. Alberta (March 11th); when some of the spectators objected, Dacian had them beheaded.”  See PICTURE of Saint Faith.
