General Rosary Intention: That the Lord in His Divine Mercy – through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary – may build up His Kingdom, make these mysteries a reality in our lives, strengthen us in our common mission, and come to the aid of those for whom we pray.

Africa (Green Beads)

Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of St. Joan of Arc, the Patron Saint of Rape Victims, may come to the aid of those women victimized by rape in Congo.  May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in Africa.

Disaster (Rape) (June 2011) Map of Congo Extract from: Attackers rape more than 170 women in raids on Congo villages: “Over the course of two June nights, attackers plundered villages in the far east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. They stole medicine from the local health center, goats from farmers, cell phones, motorcycles and other property from residents. Before fleeing, they raped and beat more than 170 women. The women were as young as 17, as old as 90, according to a United Nations official, who was not named because he is not authorized to speak to the media. . . . The humanitarian group Medicins San Frontieres reported Thursday that its medical teams in the Fizi area of Sud Kivu province had treated about 100 women for rape, abuse and trauma. It was the latest in many such incidents that have earned Congo the ignominious title of “rape capital” of the world. . . . “People are in total despair,” Jean Marie Ngoma, a member of the provincial parliament, said on U.N.-backed Radio Okapi. Amnesty International said the latest rapes were a result of the government’s ‘horrific failure of justice.’” See also: DR Congo mass rape in Fizi: ‘170 attacked’.

Saint Joan of Arc (Patron Saint of Rape Victims) (Feast Date: May 30) Extract from Joan of Arc: “Saint Joan of Arc, nicknamed The Maid of Orléans (French: ”Jeanne d’Arc”,[1] IPA: [ʒan daʁk]; ca. 1412[2] – 30 May 1431) is considered a national heroine of France and a Catholic saint. A peasant girl born in eastern France who claimed divine guidance, she led the French army to several important victories during the Hundred Years’ War, which paved the way for the coronation of Charles VII. She was captured by the Burgundians, sold to the English, tried by an ecclesiastical court, and burned at the stake when she was 19 years old.[3] Twenty-five years after the execution, Pope Callixtus III examined the trial, pronounced her innocent and declared her a martyr.[3] Joan of Arc was beatified in 1909 and canonized in 1920.[2] She is – along with St. Denis, St. Martin of Tours, St. Louis IX, and St. Theresa of Lisieux – one of the patron saints of France. Joan asserted that she had visions from God that instructed her to recover her homeland from English domination late in the Hundred Years’ War. The uncrowned King Charles VII sent her to the siege of Orléans as part of a relief mission.” See also: May 30- Saint Joan of Arc: Patron Saint of Soldiers and Rape Victims, PRAYERS for the Chaplet of St. Joan of Arc.

Oceania (Blue Beads)

Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of  St. Maximillian Kolbe, the Patron Saint of Families and against Drug Addiction, may come to the aid of those affected by drug trafficking in Australia.  May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in Oceania.

Disaster (Drug Trafficking) Seven tonnes of drugs seized in Australia: “Over seven tonnes of illicit drugs were seized in Australia in 2009-10, the national Crime Commission (ACC) says.
NSW had the highest haul with 2000 kilograms of drugs seized, the commission’s annual Illicit Drug Data Report found. . . . ‘National cocaine seizures have increased by 225 per cent in the last decade, however cannabis continues to be the most seized illicit drug in Australia.’NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said illicit drug use was a primary driver of organised criminal profit. ‘Police are finding more clan labs and more pill presses… A record 694 clandestine laboratories were also uncovered, an increase of over 50 per cent from the previous year. Mr Lawler said people should consider the harm caused by clandestine laboratories. ‘The substances used to make illicit drugs such as MDMA and Methylamphetamine in illicit clan labs are toxic, corrosive, explosive, carcinogenic and pose a significant risk to the community, including respiratory problems, severe burns and even death,’ he said. ‘The residue of drug manufacturing can pose risks for many years including damage to the environment through soil and water contamination as well as the disposal of toxic waste in public spaces.’”  See also:

Saint Maximillian Kolbe (Patron Saint against Drug Addiction) (Feast Date: August 14) Extract from:St. Maximilian Kolbe: “Maximilian was born in 1894 in Poland and became a Franciscan. . . . Before his ordination as a priest, Maximilian founded the Immaculata Movement devoted to Our Lady. After receiving a doctorate in theology, he spread the Movement through a magazine entitled “The Knight of the Immaculata” and helped form a community of 800 men, the largest in the world. . . . Maximilian went to Japan where he built a comparable monastery and then on to India where he furthered the Movement. In 1936 he returned home because of ill health. After the Nazi invasion in 1939, he was imprisoned and released for a time. But in 1941 he was arrested again and sent to the concentration camp at Auschwitz. On July 31, 1941, in reprisal for one prisoner’s escape, ten men were chosen to die. Father Kolbe offered himself in place of a young husband and father. And he was the last to die, enduring two weeks of starvation, thirst, and neglect. He was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1982.” See picture of Saint Maximillian Kolbe. Europe (White Beads)

Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of Saint Mary, Our Lady of the Snows, may come to the aid of the souls of those mountain climbers who perished on June 25th in a mountaineering accident in the French Alps, and those whose lives were affected by their loss.  May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in Europe.

Disaster (Mountaineering Accidents)(June 25, 2011) Map of France: Extract from 6 bodies found in French Alps: “The bodies of six climbers were found Sunday in the French Alps, authorities said. After a hiker spotted the bodies, they were brought by helicopter to the nearby village of Villar d’Arene, local police said, according to a report on French state radio. Authorities believe the mountaineers died Saturday morning, said the village mayor Xavier Cret. ‘It is assumed that there was an avalanche of snow and stones,’ Cret said. French police said ‘all hypotheses are possible” about how the mountain climbers died.’ ‘They could have been victims of a broken snow bridge, a fall or an avalanche,’ the state radio report said. The bodies were found at about 8,858 feet (2,700 meters) in a very steep pass at la Plate des Agneaux.” See also: French Alps climbers died after falling from mountainside, investigators say.

Saint Mary, Our Lady of the Snows (Feast Date: Augsut 5) Our Lady of the Snows: “According to tradition, on the night of August 4th, a childless aristocratic Roman couple dreamed that the Blessed Virgin Mary instructed them to go to the Esquiline Hill in the morning where they would find a plot of land covered with snow. Mary told them that a church consecrated to her should be built on the snow-covered plot of land. On this same night, she also appeared to Pope Liberius in a dream telling him of her desire. The next morning the couple went to Pope Liberius to tell him about their dream. The pope then led a procession to the spot indicated in the dream and discovered that snow had indeed fallen on the Esquiline Hill. Snowfall of any sort was unheard of in Rome at that time of year. People crowded to see the patch of snow, which persisted despite the heat, amazed that it had fallen in only one place. All of Rome proclaimed the summer snow a miracle, and the couple accepted this as a sign that hey were to use their wealth to help build the church.” See PICTURE of Our Lady of the Snows. Saint Catherine of Siena (Patron Saint against Fire) (Feast Date: April 29) Extract from: St. Catherine of Siena: “From her earliest childhood Catherine began to see visions and to practise extreme austerities. At the age of seven she consecrated her virginity to Christ; in her sixteenth year she took the habit of the Dominican Tertiaries, and renewed the life of the anchorites of the desert in a little room in her father’s house. After three years of celestial visitations and familiar conversation with Christ, she underwent the mystical experience known as the “spiritual espousals”, probably during the carnival of 1366. She now rejoined her family, began to tend the sick, especially those afflicted with the most repulsive diseases, to serve the poor, and to labour for the conversion of sinners. Though always suffering terrible physical pain, living for long intervals on practically no food save the Blessed Sacrament, she was ever radiantly happy and full of practical wisdom no less than the highest spiritual insight. All her contemporaries bear witness to her extraordinary personal charm, which prevailed over the continual persecution to which she was subjected even by the friars of her own order and by her sisters in religion. She began to gather disciples round her, both men and women, who formed a wonderful spiritual fellowship, united to her by the bonds of mystical love.” See also: April 29 – Saint Catherine of Siena: Patron Saint against Fire (Multilingual), PRAYERS TO ST. CATHERINE OF SIENNA.

In an interview with CNN in Damascus, Maj. Gen. Riad Haddad 1,300 security personnel also were wounded, and that 300 soldiers, 60 security officials and 50 police died in the violence. He also has said 700 people, whom he described as terrorists, and their families had fled Syrian authorities to Turkey. Haddad offered no details about the killings of the security forces other than to blame the deaths on armed gangs. . . . Months of protests have left more than 1,100 dead, according to human rights activists. But the extent of the carnage is not clear. About 10,000 people have been jailed since mid-March when the protests began, said Rami Abdelrahman, head of the London-based Syria Observatory for Human Rights.” See also: 15 killed during Syrian protests, Syria — Protests (2011), Syrian tanks shell villages in Idlib region-residents.

Saint Francis of Assisi (Patron Saint of Peace) (Feast Date: October 4) Extract from Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi: “Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.”See PICTURE of St. Francis.
