Africa (Green Beads)
Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of St. Faustina Kowalska, the Patron Saint of the Divine Mercy, may come to the aid of those refugees affected by ongoing clashes in Isiolo, Kenya. May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in Africa.
Disaster: Displacement due to Violence Map of Kenya Extract from: KENYA: Several thousand displaced after fresh clashes in Isiolo: “Hundreds of families in the central county of Isiolo have been displaced as deadly clashes pitting the Borana, Somali and Turkana communities escalate. Ibrahim Sheikh Mohamud, a leader from the neighbouring Wajir region, told IRIN that at least 210 Isiolo families have been taken to the Anjara area in Wajir West in the past week. ‘They are now settled at Anjara but they sleep in the open. Almost all the children have pneumonia and malaria. They need tents, food assistance and drugs,’ Mohamud told IRIN in Isiolo. Among those fleeing the violence are widows, orphaned children and livestock herders who have lost their herds to raiders in the past year. ‘We only ferried children, women and the elderly using trucks that were offered by individuals,’ said Mohamud. ‘Some of us contributed fuel and food to assist these families; they are in a very pathetic situation.’ See also: KENYA: Abdi Adan,”Right now, I am a beggar with no home”. Saint Faustina Kowalska: Patron Saint of the Divine Mercy (Feast Date: October 5) Extract from The Life and Mission of Saint Faustina Kowalska, Apostle of the Divine Mercy: “I want to be completely transformed into Your mercy and to be Your living reflection, O Lord. May the greatest of all divine attributes, that of Your unfathomable mercy, pass through my heart and soul to my neighbor. Help me, O Lord, that my eyes may be merciful, so that I may never suspect or judge from appearences, but look for what is beautiful in my neighbors’ souls and come to their rescue. Help me, that my ears may be merciful, so that I may give heed to my neighbors’ needs and not be indifferent to their pains and moanings. Help me, O Lord, that my tongue may be merciful, so that I should never speak negatively of my nieghbor, but have a word of comfort and forgiveness for all. Help me, O Lord, that my hands may be merciful and filled with good deeds, so that I may do only good to my neighbors and take upon myself the more difficult and toilsome tasks. Help me, that my feet may be merciful, so that I may hurry to assist my neighbor, overcoming my own fatigue and weariness. My true rest is in the service of my neighbor. Help me, O Lord, that my heart may be merciful so that I myself may feel all the sufferings of my neighbor. I will refuse my heart to no one. I will be sincere even with those who, I know, will abuse my kindness. And I will lock myself up in the most merciful Heart of Jesus. I will bear my own suffering in silence. May Your mercy, O Lord, rest upon me (…). O my Jesus, transform me into Yourself , for you can do all things.” See also: October 5 – Saint Faustina Kowalska: Patron Saint of the Divine Mercy, Chaplet of the Divine Mercy.
Oceania (Blue Beads)
Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of St. Christopher, the Patron Saint against Floods, may come to the aid of those affected by flooding in Fiji. May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in Oceania.
Disaster: Flooding Map of Fiji Extract from Floods in Fiji finally recede after leaving 5 dead: “Thousands of Fijians who fled surging floodwaters that have left at least five people dead started to return to their homes Tuesday after the Pacific island nation was spared a direct hit by a cyclone. Heavy rains and wind had lashed the islands since last week, swamping homes and washing out infrastructure. But fears the situation could get worse eased Tuesday when the cyclone missed Fiji by several hundred kilometers (miles). About 8,000 people in the northwest of the country’s main island, Viti Levu, had been forced from their homes into evacuation centers, Government spokeswoman Sharon Smith Johns said. She said they were slowly returning Tuesday after the rain stopped and flood waters began to recede. The government was working to restore vital infrastructure like bridges, electricity and fresh water supplies, she said. The top priorty was getting clean drinking water to residents. ‘The flood waters are going down, but to rehabilitate everything is going to be a huge job.’ Smith Johns said.” See also: Damage assessment begins after Fiji floods, Three dead, thousands evacuated in Fiji flooding. Saint Christopher: Patron Saint against Floods (Feast Date: July 25) Extract from Extract from St. Christopher: “Third century martyr in the persecutions of Decius. Little else is known for sure. His fame derives from the pious legend of him being a “Christ-bearer” (= Christopher). He was a powerfully built man who wandered the world in search of novelty and adventure. He came upon a hermit who lived beside a dangerous stream and served others by guiding them to safe places to cross. He gave Offero instruction in the truth of God. Offero took the hermit’s place, but instead of guiding travelers, he carried them safely across the stream. One day he carried a small child across the stream; the child’s weight nearly crushed him. When they arrived on the other side, the child revealed himself as Christ, and he was so heavy because he bore the weight of the world on himself. He then baptized Offero with water from the stream.” See also: July 25- Saint Christopher: Patron Saint of Travelers, against Floods, Prayers to St. Christopher.
Europe (White Beads)
Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, the French Patron Saint of the Sick, may come to the aid of those affected by autism in France. May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in Europe.
Disaster: Autism Map of France Extract from: France’s autism treatment ‘shame’: “In many countries, the standard way of treating autistic children is with behavioural therapy – stimulating and rewarding them to develop the skills they need to function in society – but France still puts its faith in psychoanalysis. And an increasing number of parents are now demanding change. For autism campaigners, it is one of the most serious health scandals of our times. How for decades France turned its back on the latest scientific thinking, and treated autism as a form of psychosis. How, as a result, tens of thousands of children were misdiagnosed – or not diagnosed at all – and consigned to lives of misery. And how, to this day, in its approach to autism, the French medical establishment continues to believe in the powers of psychiatry and psychoanalysis – long after the rest of the world has switched to alternative methods of treatment. ‘It is an out-and-out disgrace,’ according to Daniel Fasquelle, a member of parliament who campaigns on the issue. . . . In its recent report, the ministry also effectively outlawed a practice known as ‘packing’ where autistic children are wrapped in damp cloths in order to reconnect with their bodies. Campaigners say the treatment is both barbaric and ineffective. The fundamental problem, campaigners argue, is that the psychiatric profession is resisting calls for change, because the fewer patients there are, the less they earn.” See also: Disability Rights International issues a new statement on Packing announcements in France, COUNCIL OF EUROPE UPHOLDS AUTISM-EUROPE’S COMPLAINT AGAINST FRANCE. St. Thérèse of Lisieux: French Patron Saint of the Sick (Feast Date: October 1) Extract from Extract from Prayers to St. Therese.: “O My God! Most Blessed Trinity, I desire to Love You and make You Loved, to work for the glory of Holy Church by saving souls on earth and liberating those suffering in purgatory. I desire to accomplish Your will perfectly and to reach the degree of glory You have prepared for me in Your Kingdom. I desire, in a word, to be a saint but I feel my helplessness and I beg You, O my God! To be Yourself my Sanctity! Since You loved me so much as to give me Your only Son as my Saviour and my Spouse, the infinite treasures of His merits are mine. I offer them to You with gladness, begging You to look upon me only in the Face of Jesus and in His heart burning with Love.” See picture of Saint Therese of Lisieux, Slideshow, The Story of St. Therese of Lisieux, and video St Therese of Liseux at Westminster Cathedral.” See also: October 1 – Saint Thérèse of Lisieux: Patron Saint of CTF/SOS DRS, of the Sick, of Australia, Russia, Aviation and of Flower Growers.

Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of St. Thomas Aquinas, the Patron Saint against Storms, may come to the aid of those affected by tornadoes in Texas. May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in America.
Disaster: Tornadoes Map of Texas, U.S.A. Extract from Tornadoes cause damage, injuries in Dallas-Fort Worth area: “Multiple tornadoes ripped through the Dallas-Fort Worth area Tuesday, tossing truck trailers like Tinkertoys, damaging hundreds of homes and causing numerous injuries, some critical. The mayor of Lancaster, a suburb about 15 miles south of Dallas, saw one of the twisters approach. ‘I was leaving a meeting here in town and heard the tornado sirens go off,’ Mayor Marcus Knight said at a news conference. After the tornado struck, Knight said multiple injuries were reported, sending some victims to the hospital. No fatalities were reported, he said. At least 300 structures were damaged, half of them severely, he said. The city was declared a disaster area and its recreation center was converted into a shelter. Dallas County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of looting, and Sheriff Lupe Valdez toured the area, a spokeswoman said. Saint Thomas Aquinas: Patron Saint against Storms (Feast Dates: January 28, March 7) Extract from Extract from SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS Doctor of the Church (1225-1274): “The great Saint Thomas was born of noble parents at Aquino near Naples in Italy, in 1225; his century was replete with great names and Christian works, yet he dominates it by the power of his thought and the perfection of his works. In his childhood he was the provider for the poor of the neighborhood during a famine; his father, meeting him in a corridor with the food he had succeeded in taking from the kitchen, asked him what he had under his cloak; he opened it and fresh roses fell on the ground. The nobleman embraced his son and amid his tears, gave him permission to follow thereafter all inspirations of his charity. . . .While Saint Thomas was in confinement at Rocca Secca, his brothers endeavored to entrap him into sin, but the attempt only ended in the triumph of his purity. Snatching from the hearth a burning coal, the Saint drove from his chamber the courtesan whom they had concealed there. Then marking a cross upon the wall, he knelt down to pray. Immediately, while he was rapt in ecstasy, an Angel girded him with a cord, in token of the gift of perpetual chastity which God had given him. The pain caused by the girdle was so sharp that Saint Thomas uttered a piercing cry, which brought his guards into the room. But he never related this grace to anyone save Father Raynald, his confessor, a short time before his death. Thus originated the Confraternity of the Angelic Warfare, for the preservation of the virtue of chastity.” See PICTURE of St. Thomas Aquinas. Asia (Yellow Beads)
Intention – That the Lord Jesus through the intercession of St. Mary, Our Lady of Loreto, the Patron Saint of Aviators, may come to the aid of those affected by the plane crash in Siberia. May the Lord help all those affected by man-made and natural disasters in Asia.
Disaster: Plane Crash Map of Russia Extract from Russian Crash After Takeoff Kills 31: “At least 31 people died in a plane crash in Siberia early Monday, Russian officials said, the latest in a string of deadly crashes that have eroded confidence in Russia’s commitment to air safety. The plane, a UTair turboprop with 43 people on board, was to fly to a Siberian oil town but crashed within minutes of takeoff from Tyumen, a regional hub about 1,000 miles southeast of Moscow. The impact split the plane into three pieces. Officials said that 12 people survived, and that all were in critical condition. The weather was cold but largely clear, the officials said. Early suspicions were that ice on the wings might have played a role. . . . ‘Some people were yelling; some people sat still in a state of shock,’ Aleksandr Ploskov, a rescue worker, told Russia’s Channel 1 television. ‘One person was pulled alive from the flames in one part of the plane.’”

Saint Mary, Our Lady of Loreto: Patron Saint of Aviators (Feast Date: May 9, November 10, December 10) Extract from Our Lady of Loreto The Holy House of Nazareth: “December 10th, 1294, in the area of Loreto, Italy (across the Adriatic Sea and southwest of Tersatto,) shepherds reported seeing a house in the sky, flying across the sea, supported by Angels. They reported, one of the Angels (Michael) wore a red cape, and seemed to be leading the others. They saw Our Lady and the Baby Jesus seated on top of the house. The Angels continued inland, about four miles, and landed with their precious house and its Royal Passengers into a wooded area called Banderuola. The news spread, quickly drawing many people to pilgrimage to the House in Banderuola. But they were not all working on the same agenda. Robbers came to waylay, rob, and beat the pilgrims. The faithful stopped coming, and the house quickly fell into neglect. The Angels, who had been put in charge of protecting the House, lifted it again and set it down on a small hill in the middle of a farm. The only problem was, this land was owned by two brothers, named Antici, who began fighting immediately over ownership of the house. So the Angels moved the house, a third time, to another hill. This time they placed it down on the middle of a road, the site it occupies now, and has for the last 700 years. Tradition tells us that as soon as the house moved off the brothers’ property, they became the best of friends. The Angels had moved the Holy House three times in one year.” See also: May 9, November 10, December 10 – Our Lady of Loreto: Patron Saint of Aviation. NOVENA TO OUR LADY OF LORETO.
