Webmaster – SOS DRS

Contribute in a significant and creative way to aiding disaster victims and others through helping to redesign, develop and maintain the multi-lingual website of SOS DRS (SOS Doctors). This international, Catholic, non-profit disaster relief organization seeks a person who reliable, hardworking and willing to be part of a website development and communications team. The team will be composed of: the webmaster; the website developer (http://www.ctfmercy.org/); newsletter creator; newsletter /current events blog editor (https://sosdrs.wordpress.com/); and the SOS DRS director of operations and development. Skills required include a good command of the English language, a familiarity with http://wordpress.com, and a facility with HTML, JavaScript and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). An ability to use ASP 3.0, PHP, XML and XSL would be quite helpful. Foreign language skills are not necessary but would also be helpful (Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and French). Regular and uninterrupted access to a computer with an internet connection is a must. The volunteer should be prepared to make a renewable 3-month commitment, the continuation of which will be contingent upon an assessment by both parties. Work will be done initially at the Headquarters in Milwaukee in conjunction with Fr. Scott and then elsewhere as the situation requires. The HQ is located at 1039 East Russell Avenue in Milwaukee next to Immaculate Conception Parish. The initial anticipated workload is 10-15 hours per week depending on the availability of the volunteer and website needs. A qualified volunteer is preferred. With time the position may evolve into one that involves financial compensation. Fr. Scott Binet MD, MI will briefly interview the volunteer by phone and then in person prior to an orientation to the organization and the beginning of work.
